Welcome to our Church

Welcome to the Orchards Eleventh Commandment Church. We are a Seventh-Day Adventist congregation, with open doors to welcome all who may choose to worship God with us.

Why the name "Eleventh Commandment"

John 13:34 says, "A New Commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another, as I have loved you, that ye also love one another." This name was finally chosen after reading the story "Another Commandment" which all visitors get. Please read the story, for we believe that you will find as we have, that Christ is simply pointing each of us to that love and acceptance He was showing all of his children through His extreme sacrifice. At that time Christ knew his disciples did not yet love as He loved them, (see Matthew 5-7).His challenge to us is that we extend our love to all His children, even those who hate us or who may be so unlovely! A new commandment? Not really. looking at the original Ten Commandments we can see that Jesus was pointing out to us that loving one another as He loves us is the full embodiment of the ten.

Just as Moses loved the errant children of Israel, we need to love one another. While being crucified, Jesus asked, "Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do." (Luke 23:34). If we really want to be like Jesus, we must learn to love and forgive as He does. We must recognize we must be more concerned for God's reputation then our own. another emphasis in this commandment that was new, and to many still is new, is the importance of the reason why we do what we do. It is important to do good things, but far more important to do them for the right motive (see I Corinthians 13). We are not perfect, and each of us has sinned (see Romans 3:23). Is it possible to love one another as Christ loved us? Absolutely not, on our own power! He who gave the command to love as He loves can give us the transforming power to grow to love like He loves. Jesus Himself sad in Luke 18:27 " The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.

May God bless you as together we worship Him.
